For many months, the staff and leadership of the History Center have been researching and meeting and brainstorming and dreaming about the amazing possibilities that are before us as we envision the future York County History Center.
Now, with the capital campaign, titled Placing History at the Center, gearing up for the public kickoff, we are privileged to work together with PRD, our exhibit design firm, and LSC, our architectural firm, to begin to look at the stories that we will tell in this amazing consolidated space in Downtown York.
As we do, it is incumbent upon us to ask the people of our community to provide input about exactly that. What stories are most important to YOU? This input will help guide the visitor experience at the new History Center.
So, in order to tell a comprehensive York County story and to expose visitors to all of the county’s diversity, the History Center will host community gatherings to invite discussion on York County’s history and heritage and explore possibilities for the new attraction.
During the gatherings the History Center will ask for feedback and will facilitate discussion on questions including the following:
- What makes York County special?
- What makes you feel connected to York County?
- How is York County changing?
- What things about York County’s history would you like to know more about?
- What excites you or concerns you about York County’s future?
- What would you like to see in the new York County History Center?
All are invited to attend. The following is the schedule:
