Afternoon tours of Colonial Complex canceled due air advisory

The high temperatures have subsided, but now York County is under a hazardous air quality advisory as a result of this week’s wildfire smoke from northern Minnesota and central Canada. As a result, afternoon Colonial Complex tours for today, July 17, are canceled. If you have questions about today’s tour schedule, call our front desk at 717-848-1587.

Walking Tours

A History Center staff member leads a tour around historic downtown York

Are you interested in the rich history York has to offer? Want to see our city from a new perspective? Take a guided historic walking tour with one of our experienced tour guides! Walking tours are offered each month in the summer and fall. The History Center Museum and our historic sites are in the oldest area of York, near the heart of the revitalized downtown. Each tour has its own focus, and most include York’s historic Continental Square.

All York walking tours will start and end at the History Center museum and will last 60-90 minutes. Tours are recommended for ages 12 and older. Tickets for our walking tours are $10 for History Center members and $12 for non-members. Our walking tours are offered during the months of May through August and are typically a evening week night experience. If you are interested in a walking tour for a group of ten or more people please contact Caroline Travers, Manager of Public Programs. Here are the standard tours we offer through the summer.
