Media Only Access to New State-of-the-Art Facility

York, PA (June 27, 2024) – The York County History Center (YCHC) is thrilled to announce a special media event at 10 a.m. July 10 to celebrate its new, state-of-the-art headquarters at 121 N. Pershing Ave in downtown York. The media event will start on the third floor with remarks, then move downstairs to begin the tour.

The new History Center boasts 15,000 square feet of dedicated exhibit space, strategically located near the Colonial Complex creating a central downtown York destination for history enthusiasts and tourists. The exciting relocation marks a significant transformation for the History Center Museum and Library & Archives, offering visitors a dynamic and inclusive experience within a vibrant cultural hub.

Media will have the exclusive opportunity to:

  • Tour the new facility, featuring 15,000 square feet of dedicated exhibit space.
  • Learn about the adaptive reuse project that transformed the former Met-Ed steam plant into the new central downtown destination for YCHC.
  • Hear remarks focused on the YCHC’s commitment to diversity in artifacts and storytelling.

Public Grand Opening

The public will be able to visit the new York County History Center during the 2024 summer season, with a grand opening event planned for August 2-4.
