York Made That

Because of this morning’s wintry weather and slippery roads, the History Center will open at noon today, Thursday, Feb. 6.
Looking back at York County’s history it’s not hard to see a common theme – we are and continue to be a community of makers. From our earliest inhabitants that shaped tools and formed pottery from the raw materials the land provided to the modern-day artisans, manufactures, and inventors that call this region home there are few products we haven’t made at some point in our history. As we move into a new year, we feel it’s time to celebrate all that York has produced and many times continues to make!
Throughout 2022, we’ll be highlighting in our public programming and changing exhibits stories of businesses and the hardworking and industrious people behind them.
We encourage you to reach out to us if you have a maker story or artifact to share and keep watch for our “York Makes That” logo throughout 2022 to learn the rich, making history of York County.
