History Center recognized for museum redevelopment project
Central Penn Business Journal has selected the York County History Center to receive a 2025 Top Projects Award.
Top Projects is an awards program that honors the best building and construction projects in Central Pennsylvania over a 12-month span – from January 2024 to December 2024 – in Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon and York counties. The awards are not only a look back at the excellent work that’s taken place in the previous year, but they also anticipate how these plans and projects potentially establish landmarks of the future.
Projects were judged on the following criteria: degree of difficulty, creativity in design, innovative construction techniques, cooperation among contractors, management and in some cases government, adaptive reuse and sustainability efforts. Winners of the 2025 Top Projects Awards were chosen by the editors of Central Penn Business Journal.
“The 2025 Top Projects are leaving a notable mark on the landscape of Central Pennsylvania. Their innovative projects feature quality design and construction in addition to creating jobs, building healthy spaces and helping businesses achieve their goals,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, managing director of BridgeTower Media/Central Penn Business Journal. “Central Penn Business Journal is pleased to shine a spotlight on these businesses for their outstanding achievements over the past year.”
The History Center project, a $31 million redevelopment effort in the heart of historic downtown York, converted a former electricity-generating plant into a state-of-the-art history museum that provides an immersive visitor experience to explore more than 300 years of York County history.
The Top Projects Awards will be presented at Central Penn Business Journal’s Real Estate & Development Summit on Oct. 21 at the Sheraton Harrisburg Hershey Hotel, 4650 Lindle Road in Harrisburg. The summit begins at 8:30 a.m. and features a breakfast buffet, exhibits, keynote address by Yeva Nersisyan, Ph.D., from Franklin & Marshall College, a panel discussion focusing on navigating the use of Artificial Intelligence in the Central Penn real estate and construction industries, and networking opportunities. The Top Projects Awards celebration begins at 10 a.m. The event hashtag is #CPBJevents.
This event is limited attendance and will sell out.
There are various sponsorship levels available, which include a table for guests, exhibit opportunities, the right to use the event logo, multimedia marketing and much more, depending on sponsorship level. Tables are only available with sponsorship. To secure a sponsorship to ensure you and your guests can celebrate together, contact Suzanne Fischer-Huettner at shuettner@bridgetowermedia.com.
Honorees will be profiled in a special section that will be included in the Oct. 24 issue of Central Penn Business Journal and will be available online at CPBJ.com.
