Another Oyster Festival is in the books

Join us at Second Saturday Aug. 9 for Living the Experience, an immersive Underground Railroad reenactment that brings Lancaster’s hidden history to life through interactive storytelling and first-person interpretation. This acclaimed program, housed at Lancaster’s historic Bethel AME Church, has captivated audiences from around the world with its powerful portrayal of the people and events that made Lancaster a crucial stop on the Underground Railroad.
The History Center’s 50th Annual Oyster Festival was Oct. 20, and more than 1,600 people attended the event to slurp oysters, listen to live music, bring the kids for games, crafts and demonstrations and enjoy a great day with amazing October weather. We returned to the Colonial Complex this year, and invited folks into our new museum. Photographer Randy Flaum was on hand to chronicle the day. You can see a gallery of his photos here.
