Young Lewis Miller – a presentation and book signing

On October 15 at 6:30 p.m. Jay Davidson will discuss his recently published book Young Lewis Miller: A Boy’s Life in the 1800s.  The book is available for purchase at the History Center and at yorkhistorycenter.org. Jay will sign copies of his book following the presentation.

What was it like to be a young boy growing up in the early 1800s in York? Author Jay Davidson helps answer that question in the new book he wrote and edited Young Lewis Miller, A Boy’s Life in the 1800s. Readers can follow Lewis Miller’s drawings as he grows from a 3-year-old boy to a 21-year-old young adult in this richly illustrated book. Published by the York County History Center and timed for the nation’s 250th anniversary, the book is aimed at young readers with the hope that it will bring this noted York County folk artist’s work to new generations.

James Latimer (Jay) Davidson grew up in York. His banking career took him from Manhattan to Hong Kong, Boston and Beijing. Now living in Southern California, his interest in genealogy has led to a renewed appreciation of the art and history of York County.
