Share Your History Project

At the York County History Center, we recognize that York County’s diverse communities have a rich history that has not always been preserved. In order to build relationships and gather that history, the History Center developed the Share Your History Project in 2018 with Ophelia Chambliss through a grant with the York County Community Foundation.

Join us for a Share Your History event or scanning day!

Share Your History events are designed to unearth local personal family stories that showcase York’s diversity, while teaching the community how to preserve historic artifacts, documents and photographs for future generations.  Upcoming events will be listed on the Events page.

If you have items that you would like to have scanned, please contact the Library & Archives for an appointment.  Your scanned items will be added to the History Center archives and you will receive a flash drive of the scans for your personal use.  There is no cost for this service.  If you already have digital material that you wish to donate to the archives, it is now possible to submit digital items online, such as audio and video recordings, digital images, and documents by clicking here: Digital Donation Form.

Community members are invited to share personal stories and reflections, family history and photographs, as well as other historical documents.

Help the York County History Center preserve YOUR history by sharing with us stories that help promote understanding of our whole community!
