Second Saturday for Families
The Second Saturday Family Series is held on the second Saturday of each month. Activities are designed to be engaging for children and touch on a variety of topics from York County’s 270 years of history. Check back regularly on this page for upcoming programs.
The Second Saturday Family Activity Series are typically held from 10 AM-2 PM, allowing visitors to drop-in at their convenience. Some events will be timed. Please see the details for each month’s program for specifics of where and when they will be held.
January 11- Make paper dolls with accompanying historic clothing, or design your own clothes. Held at the Historical Society Museum from 10 AM- 2 PM.
February 8- Discover the history of Jazz music. We will explore pioneer musicians in Jazz, listen to samples of jazz music, identify instruments, and create word art with the feelings the music creates. Held at the Agricultural and Industrial Museum from 10 AM- 2 PM.
March 14- Quilting in York. We’ll talk about why quilting was so important to people living in York County during the 1800s and look at some quilts in the museum collection, newly on display. Children can design their own quilt squares using paper.
