Joan Mummert, the longtime president and CEO of the York County History Center, will retire from the History Center at the end of April. Joan has led the History Center for 18 years, a period that included a major rebranding, a strategic repositioning and ultimately the construction of the state-of-the-art $30 million History Center Museum and Library & Archives that opened in August.
To celebrate and honor Joan’s achievements, the public is invited to a drop-in celebration at the History Center Monday, April 21, from 4-7 p.m. A reception with light refreshments will be held in Joan’s honor, with remarks at 5:30. We’ll share stories, express our gratitude, and celebrate the lasting impact she has had on our community. You’ll also have the opportunity to record a brief message for Joan, sharing a favorite memory, congratulations, or any other sentiment you’d like to express.
In lieu of gifts, Joan has requested that those wishing to honor her consider a donation to the Joan Mummert Legacy Fund, which will support York County History Center staff development. Joan has set a goal of $25,000 for the fund.
RSVP via email to Rebecca Countess or phone 717-309-7672.
We look forward to celebrating with you!
