The South Central Pennsylvania Genealogy Society presents a Genealogy Seminar for Beginners! A day featuring the basics of starting genealogy research, with presentations by experienced members of the field.
Learn the steps needed to delve into your family’s history. Bring along your laptop or tablet and become acquainted with the resources that can be used in discovering more about yourself, and your loved ones. The event will be from 9:00am until 1:00pm, with time to use the York County History Center Library and archives until 4:00pm.
York County History Center member tickets are $10, non-member tickets are $20. Tickets include day-of free access to the museum and library, as well as a 20% discount at the museum gift shop!
8:30am-9:00am – Registration
9:00am-9:05am – Welcome & opening remarks – Jonathan Stayer, SCPGS President
9:05am-10:00am – Beginning genealogical research – Rebecca Anstine, MLS, SCPGS Corresponding Secretary
10:00am-10:15am – Break with light refreshments

11:10am-12:00pm – Beginner’s guide to using DNA in genealogical research – Richard Konkel, Esq., SCPGS Vice President
12:00pm-1:00pm – Lunch on your own
1:00pm-4:00pm – Optional research in York County History Center library or personal assistance with using genealogy websites if desired – SCPGS volunteers will be on hand to help
