In addition to our interactive tours, we offer Youth Programs. For Girl Scouts, programs appropriate for Daisies through Ambassadors are available. This program has also been tailored to meet Boy Scout badge requirements, and the Education Department will work with leaders to make the best experience for their scouts. Other youth groups and programs are welcome.
All programs start with an orientation to the Colonial Complex, where participants will learn about everyday life for middle class German settlers and life for upper class British families. The orientation includes a tour of the 1741 Golden Plough Tavern building, the house rented by Revolutionary War general, Horatio Gates, during his stay in York, and the reconstructed Colonial Court House where Continental Congress convened during their nine months in York. Groups will choose hands-on projects from options including candle dipping, colonial games, and Pennsylvania German crafts.
A virtual tour option may also be available using ZOOM or Google Meet. For more information contact Caroline Smith.
