SUMMARY:Agricultural York- March
DESCRIPTION:Presentation by Judy Grove and Cindy Pizziketti (Wallace Cross Mill docents)\n\nIn this session\, Judy Grove will highlight the historical significance and operations of the Wallace Cross Mill as it celebrates its bicentennial anniversary. Following this\, Cindy Pizziketti will share the story of the two Wallace sisters who ran the mill for 30 years. Having taken over operations during the Civil War\, the sisters were among the many unsung women who kept the country running during that era. Ms. Grove and Ms. Pizziketti will bring a portable corn sheller and allow attendees to grind wheat kernels. Some sweet treats will be provided by our presenters with buckwheat that was processed at the Wallace Cross Mill. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the work of the Wallace sisters\, mill docents\, and other who have contributed to maintaining the Wallace Cross Mill for 200 years.

SUMMARY:History Storytellers
DESCRIPTION:An evening with York County History Storytellers is a gathering of history-minded people who love sharing stories. \nTonight’s program is SOLD OUT! \nOur American democracy is worth fighting for\, and it has been since 1776. That struggle has produced heroes\, all worthy. It has spawned foes – some with good intentions\, others certainly not. Indeed\, you could say the York County experience with our American democracy has ranged from heroes to zeros. Historians participating in the York County History Storytellers evening are returning to explore what has worked in York County’s history and those times that we’ve fallen short. As a county\, we can learn from both. \nThe program starts at 6:30 p.m.\, Dec. 11\, and will feature Ben Neely\, June Burk Lloyd\, Samantha Dorm\, Jeri Jones\, Scott Mingus and Stephen H. Smith. Doors open at 5:30 pm for those who wish to explore the museum for free prior to the event. \nHometown History’s Jamie Noerpel and Dominish Marie Miller will host the evening. Jim McClure will preside at the popular “Stump the Historian” segment. \nProgram in collaboration with the York Daily Record and Hometown History.
